Spurs back in this game

There will come a time, many years from now, decades from now, when people will ask us what the last six years were like, these 2020s. How it felt to tick over into a new decade with that president and burn through a pandemic and incessant war and never stop posting – they'll ask about that, sure – but also the Spurs.

What was it like when the Spurs weren't in the playoffs? Was it strange to not see San Antonio crowd shots from April through June? When the Spurs weren't there, did it feel like the playoffs should have an asterisk?

We'll want to talk about what it was like to not set record temperatures every day from April through June and they'll want to talk about how weird it was that the Spurs were at the lottery drawing in May with all the bad teams, like, did they send Dennis Rodman? He is a Taurus.

(That's Gen Alpha for ya. Way into astrology and always willing to credit D-Rod for more than he actually did, especially after Dennis reunited Korea in 2032. Yeah, to them it's just "Korea.")

The Spurs missed the playoffs in six consecutive seasons from 2019-20 through 2024-25. In the team's previous 46 seasons in San Antonio, the Spurs missed the playoffs four times.

Four times, 46 seasons. Pardon my French, but, I'll be damned.
